Since this was requested, I thought I'd comply and give it a go here.

If anyone has any questions or requests just feel free to post them here. ^_^

And now onto the tutorial!

So you want to go from this plain old cap to this very spiffy icon?

This is going to run you five layers, not counting the background. It's going to set up like this, incase the instructions below confuse some.

First thing is first.

- Crop image

- Duplicate image, once you've fitted it as you like into the icon space, and set the blending mode to soft light

- Duplicate the image again, leaving the same blending mode setting, only this time go to Image>Adjustiments>Desaturate

- Next, go to Layer and select New adjustment Layer > Color Balance, with the following settings.

- Finally, go to Layer and select New adjustment Layer > Selective Color, with the following settings.

Going back to the first layer and sharpening is optional.

The end result should be...
